We would like to interrupt this userinfo for an important announcement.
This lame deviation to normal programming is now over. But join darfur_crisis now.
"We would like to inform you of the untimely death of André Axver. Free cake is available in the hall as part of an entirely unrelated celebration."
Hello. I am Axver, the U2 Setlist Guy. What can I say? I'm fascinated by concert setlists and U2 used to be my favourite band. For old times' sake, here's my U2 fancode: NO? FE S++++ N++ B+++ C++ L- O++ CV++ JT9.
Axver: enough opinions for ten men, bitingly sarcastic, critical, and as subtle as a freight train hitting a convertible.
To clarify: my screen name, nickname, and online last name of convenience, Axver, is taken from Amak Axver, a fictional character I created when I was a seven year old with aspirations of being an author. I love to write about anything remotely related to politics, theology, music, history, and railways. If you want to discuss/debate/argue/have a flamewar about those topics, I am more than willing to talk. I am a social democrat, an ignostic (or to simplify, an atheist), an ex-Christian who has a serious problem with literalist and fundamentalist religion, and I think I'm always right but realistic enough to know that there's a whole lot more out there to learn. I consider railways to be the superior form of transport, history and political science are immensely interesting, and music is life. Read more Dostoevsky. High speed Internet is good for you.
"We thought that we had the answers/It was the questions we had wrong" - U2, 11 O'clock Tick Tock
"The more that I fake it and pretend not to care/The more you can read into what isn't there" - Porcupine Tree, Stop Swimming
"Time recedes every day/And you search your soul but you won't see/As we pass ever on and away/Towards some blank infinity" - Anathema, Deep
"Fuck you and your book too/You can have it back/When I'm gone, these songs will be my tracks" - Porcupine Tree, Even Less (Full Version)
"And now they're setting goals, making plans/Because they don't want to understand their fear of death/When the search for truth ultimately fails due to lack of proof" - The Chills, Brave Words
"And it's true we are immune/When fact is fiction and TV reality/And today the millions cry/We eat and drink while tomorrow they die" - U2, Sunday Bloody Sunday
"Every time I turn around, there's another face watching me Every time I turn around, there's another voice calling me Every time I turn around, there's another fool reading me Every time I turn around, there's another silence drowning me" - Porcupine Tree, And The Swallows Dance Above The Sun
"Sweet smell of a great sorrow lies over the land Plumes of smoke rise, merge into the leaden sky A man lies and dreams of green fields and rivers But wakes to a morning with no reason for waking He's haunted by the memory of a lost paradise His youth or a dream, he can't be precise He's chained forever to a world that's departed It's not enough, it's not enough" - Pink Floyd, Sorrow
"Listen to the words, they’ll tell you what to do Listen over the rhythm that’s confusing you Listen to the reed in the saxophone Listen over the hum of the radio Listen to the sounds of blades in rotation Listen through the traffic circulation Listen as hope and peace try to rhyme Listen over marching bands playing out their time" - U2, Wake Up Dead Man
I own and maintain darfur_crisis, a community for information and discussion about the ongoing genocide and humanitarian crisis in Darfur, Sudan.
