Nothing much to say I guess, just the same as all the rest

So I reuse subject lines, and one I stole from a song at that. I'm feeling decidedly unoriginal today.

I'm starting to get the hang of this FTP business, which is awesomeness. If I'm good enough, I'll hopefully be able to get some stuff downloading overnight and just have a state of permanent downloads. It'll take me a while to get through everything on ReliveTheConcert, not to mention the fact that speeds for free users are limited to 5KB/sec.

I'm getting really slack with e-mails lately, and I don't know why. So if you send me an e-mail and don't get a response in ages, the reason for the delay is because I'm lazy. The lack of a response is no comment on your character, it's a comment on just how lazy mine is.

Some things are starting to improve ever so slightly, and some of you know what I mean.

I suppose I should acknowledge the fact that it's Valentine's Day. I'm tremendously apathetic towards it this year. Don't instantly assume that's because I don't have a romantic or loving bone in my body - some have managed to discover that that's definitely untrue - it's just because, in the words of my favourite Anti-Valentine's Day card, it's an "unimaginative, consumer-orientated, and entirely arbitrary, manipulative, and shallow interpretation of romance day." Some of you say that if I had someone to share it with, I'd care more, but that's only a maybe. And really, is André giving people stuff for Valentine's Day really a good idea? "Here, have a collection of U2 bootlegs ... oh, and I got this U2 video for you ... hope this Edge shirt fits!" But in any case, I don't care, and I think this is the silliest 'holiday' there is ... especially because, from what I've read about Saint Valentine, it really has bugger-all to do with him.

What I am pleased about is the fact Valentine's Day fell on a weekend. When they're on a school day ... put it this way: petty, immature teenagers with raging hormones and dying IQs on the loose are never good things. Maybe not everyone's like that, but you still get some random silly people.

That was going to be a rant that led somewhere, but then I got distracted by checking my download limit to make sure I wasn't blowing it, and it seems like some of what I'm downloading isn't being logged. Well I'm not about to complain about that! The less they log, the better!

You know, I say I'll do a lot of things and I never get around to them. I'm so lazy. I need to revise my swearing is not sinful article ... sheesh, I said I'd do that over a month ago! Bah. I really need to work on some things and get my addicted butt away from messageboards. Look what YTF going down has done to me! Back then, all I needed was one MB, but now I'm all over the show.

So yeah. I think I should practice some Geography and reply to some e-mails. Maybe stop being lazy. Could be a nice change, you never know.

--- 11:12pm ---

So I've done the replying to e-mails part. Still time to do Geography ...

Lauren, I need to thank you. You inspired me to check out some U2 recordings from Georgia, and I have found the most awesome performance of Fire ever. 1 December 1981, The Agora, Atlanta. The start isn't as good as some I have, but the end is great and pushes it over the line. I so should start a page on my website listing what I consider to be the best performances ever of individual U2 songs.

Fire, live from Atlanta, USA, 1 December 1981
Words and music by U2

This is Fire!

[Untranscribable vocal noises] Fire!
Go!
Got it
Get it

Calling, calling
The stars are falling down
Falling, falling
They knock me to the ground
With a fire, yoh-ho oh-oh
Fire, woh-oh oh-oh

Calling, calling
The moon is running red
Calling, calling
It's pulling me instead
With a fire, woh-oh oh-oh
Fire, woh-oh, oh-oh

Well there's a fire inside
When I'm falling over
There's a fire in me
When I call out
I built a fire
I'm going home
Yeah-eh-eh

Calling, calling
The sun is burning black
Calling, falling
It's beating on my back
With a fire, woh-oh oh-oh
Fire, yoh-oh oh-oh
Ah!

Well there's a fire inside
When I'm falling over there's a fire in me
When I call out
There's a fire inside
When I'm falling over
I built a fire
I'm going home, yoh-oh oh
Get it (??)

Goodnight!

Feel the fire!
In your heart, oh
Yes there's a fire
Within a heart, oh (??)
Yoh-oh oh, woh-oh oh, yoh-oh oh, woh-oh oh
